I take the bus every day, and I see lots of people I don’t know. I don’t think much about the other people on the bus or what their lives are like. When you’re in a place like a bus where there are lots of people, you just kind of ignore them all, and you really only notice them if they get in your way.
But I mean, all those people are people. They all have lives and families and hobbies and likes and dislikes and they’re all just as complex as you and me. But I never really think of them like they’re. They’re just there.
But I was thinking, like if I did think of all those people as people and not just inconveniences, my brain would probably like overflow, right? Like trying to imagine there’s, what, seven billion people in the world, and think of all you know and have done times seven billion? Like I can’t store all that in my head. That’s crazy. We would go crazy if we thought about other people as real things with feelings and thoughts, right?
