I read Catch-22 in grade 13 — or whatever you want to call that extra year of high school — in creative writing class. We were supposed to spend the first fifteen minutes of every class reading. That’s not really the most ideal situation to read a book in, especially because the teacher was a ditz and sometimes we didn’t have our reading time, or sometimes it lasted all period.
Anyway, the book was rather amusing, but much too long. The last quarter of the book just seemed to be the same jokes over again.
I watched a bit of the movie on TV, but it was nowhere near as good.
Part of me wants to read it again to properly enjoy it, but it’s just so damn long.
