In linguistics class, I learned that our brains do this thing called priming, which means that after you hear the word “bread”, you’re able to recognize the word “butter” more quickly, because you’ve already started thinking about things related to bread.

Today, I was watching the news, and they had a story about a tattoo parlor. Well, apparently, my brain has decided to reclassify the word “tattoo”, so instead of “tattoo” being a primer for words like “ink” and “skin”, it’s now a primer for words like “roarke” and “island”.

Me: Hey mom, bI’IH!
Mom: What.
Me: bI’IH!
Mom: What does that mean.
Me: You’re beautiful!
Mom: …how.
Me: bI is “you” and ‘IH is “beautiful”.
Mom: …in Ukrainian?
Me: …yes. In Ukrainian.

Me: Hey dad, bI’IH!
Dad: What’s that, Klingon?
