There’s a desk that looks an awful lot like Mr. Roarke’s desk in Naughty Marietta (1935) (of all places!) at about 59:06, but upon further investigation, I don’t think they’re the same desk. The gold box also looks similar, but again, is not quite the same.

I watched the pilot of Designing Women today (because Scott Bakula). Early on in the episode, Julia sits down and puts her head on her desk. In front of her, there’s this elaborate gold box.
…which once sat on Mr. Roarke’s desk in his office on Fantasy Island.
Fantasy Island ended in 1984, and Designing Women began in 1986, and they’re both Columbia Pictures Television productions.
