3×16 “Rogues and Riches/Stark Terror”
- Rating: 3 out of 5
A guy travels to 18th century England to fetch his friend, Robert Goulet, who never returned from his fantasy.
A young woman relives the night her mother died so she can figure out if it was her fault or not.
Ah! I saw this one on TV. I don’t remember the first story, but I definitely remember the girl who can’t talk.
Roarke: Miss Marson, I hope you realize that my powers do not extend to bring the dead back to life. This fantasy can only work because it is a psychic experience in which your mother is still alive in your mind. But I cannot change or add or subtract from what actually happened that night.
“Roarke can’t bring people back from the dead… but we’re gonna do it anyway.”
Yes, so it’s definitely not a door behind Roarke’s desk.
Wow, and Roarke’s walking over by the fourth wall now. That never used to happen.
I think this is the best shot we’ve had of this filming location. They film here allll the time, but it’s obviously not Columbia Ranch, ’cause there’s a big hill back there.
Wah, the time traveller stealing clothes from a clothesline trope. Love it.
Amy Marson: Mom, Joshua’s like a second father to me.
Mrs. Marson: Well, he isn’t your father. He’s a man, and you’re a young woman now, and I don’t want you going there alone.
Wow, someone in this show actually has sense for once.
18th century England sure looks a lot like El Monotono.
Is this 18th century woman in the giant hat and gown seductively eating chicken ribs supposed to be sexy?
[Margaret and Mark are making out. Someone has entered the building and is calling for Margaret.]
Margaret Winston: My husband!
Mark Hendricks: My lord!
Ginger last episode, Skipper this episode… I hope Gilligan shows up next week.
Amy and her mother’s reaction to the guy who came into their house was just… not… how people would react in real life.
You can’t fool me. I know those eyes.
Mark Hendricks: But they’re gonna kill us! Please, take us back to Fantasy Island!
Roarke: Well, unfortunately, the forces that, um —
Roarke doesn’t even need to give his bullshit explanation; I’m already laughing.
Roarke: — affect the transfer to that time zone are at a very low ebb right now, a very low ebb. No, I came only to tell you that you must extricate yourself from this problem.
No shit.
I wonder if they do all the walls in that off-white colour so Roarke’s suit pops more.
Okay… so her mother wasn’t murdered, she just fell, and it was just an accident… but that accident never would have happened if that guy never showed up. And she might have never fallen if Amy had been like “yo mom, some dude just walked into our house”… so if I was Amy, I wouldn’t feel any better after all this.
